Been a stuffy February.
A project progression:
That draft was done mid-January, right after I finished and released the animation during that period.
Having things stable with a lot of free time really made a difference.
Then things didn't.
Other than the personal and job stuff, the Tentacle/Flesh Models on that image weren't letting me sculpt things on them freely for some reason.
Had to find new assets and do it all over.
It was disheartening.
Then I got over it.
Got this far near the end of the bleeding effects that have become the February:
Then, two days ago, I got some sculpting done.
I don't know if you'll notice the difference, it's kind of a subtler-detail-things, but...:
It is animated.
There are a few more things I want to play with.
After those, should see this released this month.
The other longer animation that I have only released a dozen WIP footages, (the one that I've worked on for 2 years,) it still lives in my heart.
I've heard it's not uncommon for artists to almost finish the project, then not finish the project, and they have like 50 to some hundreds of those. (gods, how do these people know me so well?)
I am going to finish it. Maybe not to the point of refinement that I wanted. But the baseline techniques and technologies used on that project are quite outdated now, needing to rework nearly the entire thing if I use the new ones, and I want to play with the new ones.
But maybe a compromise. Wrap things up, tie up some loose knots, give it decent finishing polish, and have it out, then act like that's what it was supposed to be all along.
The project trained me so much, it is the reason why animations are much easier for me today.
It will not be abandoned.
Some other side gigs:
I've always had some game ideas.
Found some apps that are minimum coding and more designing.
After a list, clicked with Flowlab.
The interface looks like logic gates, drag and drop, connect dots, which is great for me.
Then I wrote a whole script of how the game would work.
Then I realized, if I keep doing this, I'm not getting anything else done for months, at least.
Will get back to this later.
Got some animating and modeling to do first.
With Blender, I looked for some ways to make the work environment and process more enjoyable and fluent in my current stage of understanding.
Been planning on paying people to commission models with specific functions.
Then I discovered the existence of Blender asset stores, and how well they are integrated to the community.
I tried a few demos so far with the assets that I might need.
Love the ones I've tried so far. Tutorials are good too.
Suddenly, the actual no-dialogue large-scale environmental animated storytelling seems achievable.
And learned how Blender works more while troubleshooting. I'm less terrified of using jiggle physics now.
I'm in a phase where I passed all the drooling and gawking, and now having a deeper analysis with the 30 things I wanted to buy, so that I don't actually buy all the 30 things. Some of them are quite expensive.
I only need, like, maybe 6 of those. Plus some free alternatives.
We'll see how their trial runs go.
Pretty spaceships and their horrifying interior?
Chunky slime dissolving gnarly skinsuits?
Dynamic tentacles peeling through a waddling person?
They all seem so very possible now.
Unless both the software and hardware explode. That's also possible.
I've tried a few cloth physics so far. And, oh, my overkill spec back in 2025 is struggling hard if I don't optimize.
Speaking of the briefly mentioned commission intent,
I still rather have a voice actor who has the type of voice I'm looking for, and I can somewhat direct the output.
The "type of voice" I'm looking for has been frustratingly hard to find in the NSFW media, where they often sound too much like anime or pornstars, which are skillful shows of practiced theatrics for the currently popular and acknowledged demands, but that also means they break immersion for me.
It's also frustrating because the types I've been looking for haven't been uncommon in the SFW fields since the objectives are more diverse there. Or even in many amateur videos that seem more like their personal passion projects, not unlike the stuff I'm making.
They're, like, right there. But they never reply to me.
(In their defense, I probably sounded like a scammer, and an overly sticky one, if I were in their shoes.)
I don't need just the 50 shades of moans. I need piercing gasps, shivering breaths, the "involuntary audible gawkings", the "pleasure screech", the "confused laughs", and etc.
I don't want just pleasures. I want paradoxes, the conflicts.
If you know someone who'd be interested, flick her my details.
Standard fee + additional request fees.
I'll see what that looks like and we may bargain.
It would be great if even one works.
That's the update this month.
(Is this the first update this year?)
See you when the animation comes out.
ps: 5 hours composing this update. whyyyyy
is me not good with words?
